Baseball Hall of Famer Casey Stengel managed the New York Yankees from 1949 through 1960. In twelve years, he led the team to seven World Series championships.
Once, when he was asked about what it takes to be a good manager, Stengel replied, "Managing is getting paid for home runs someone else hits." With that, old Casey revealed his secret of success. All winning leaders know their triumphs rest in drawing the best from the people around them. A leader's real role is chief servant.
